Rebecca & Paul, 10th July 2022, Pittodrie House Wedding.

Rebecca and Paul opted for a small intimate wedding at Pittodrie House, they chose the small wedding package, covering the ceremony, groups & bridal coverage which suited the wedding perfectly. If you are looking for someone to cover only a portion of your day then my wedding photography packages can cover this, just give me a shout.

They got engaged at Bennachie so the setting was absolutely perfect with Bennachie visible in the background of their outdoor wedding. Outdoor weddings rely on good weather. As does a good view, luckily for them it was the hottest day of the year. Being a wedding photographer in Aberdeen you need to be prepared for all weathers but I definitely wasn’t prepared for the heat that day!

And some of my favourite moments….

Claire & Michael, Drumtochty Castle, 3rd September 2022

It’s been a long time since I jumped on and wrote something, there is no time better than this lovely wedding I photographed the other week.

I first met Claire & Michael at my studio right back at the early planning stages of their wedding. I was absolutely delighted when they picked me to photograph their day at Drumtochty Castle. It’s such a grand venue, and although I’ve photographed there before, it’s not everyday you get the opportunity to work in such beautiful Scottish surroundings.

Being a wedding photographer can take you here, there and everywhere. I feel really blessed to call many of the places I photograph, work. Some are starting to even feel like home!

C & M decided on a pre wedding/engagement shoot back in April this year, more as a practice run but also so we could catch up and get to know each other a bit more before the big day. They said it’s the best thing they could have done which is lovely to hear. We decided on Crathes Castle which was a lovely spot and suited them very well.

The wedding went without a hitch, and was a truly lovely day. The bridal party were great fun, the couple a dream and the other suppliers on the day some of the best! We had such good fun and it’s a wedding I didn’t want to end.

A shout out to my sidekick Sandie Ritchie, you make my job even easier and more enjoyable every wedding we do together.

And a mention to We are one wedding films, great guys to work with and we now offer a photo & film discount - check them out!

Looking forward to welcoming you all back…

IMG_4813.jpeg

It’s been a long time coming, FOUR whole months! But I can finally open my doors again soon.
I’m thrilled to be able to start indoor studio sessions again and have an array of new props and backdrops waiting for you all.

Of course safety first, as always. I have my PPE and cleaning supplies at the ready and will be doing less sessions per day/week to allow extra cleaning time between you all. You are in safe hands don’t worry! And hooray the hairdressers opened in plenty of time to sort out your hair first too.

My postponed newborn, sitter and cake smash sessions will take priority but my diary is open to all and come June I will be offering some other types of sessions both indoors and out.

Make sure as always to book in early as I usually book up around 3 months ahead so already I’m quite full until June at the moment.

Outdoor Photography Sessions

IMG_9370.jpeg

I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of my outdoor photographs over the years, especially last year when outdoor work was allowed and preferred over the studio when the restrictions were a little tighter.

My diary is open once again for booking outdoor sessions from April 5th 2021. Spring is a beautiful time to have a session, lots of colours and hopefully some nicer and warmer weather. I will have sessions throughout spring, summer and autumn. They will as always be limited availability as I do also shoot weddings and babies etc on weekends and most weekdays.

There is an offer running at the moment for any session booked in April, date can be confirmed later. Make sure to book early to secure a spot! This is a great way to make some fun and natural memories of your family and embrace being together again.

I’ve added a button below for booking in…..

Older Newborns

Older newborn photography sessions, what they are and what it means….

IMG_4865.jpeg

I decided to write this post mainly so that all the lockdown parents know what to expect from an older newborn session, just because they aren’t teeny tiny and new doesn’t mean this isn’t the session for you! A lot of babies from the previous lockdown attended sessions at around 3-5 months old and everyone loved the images! Your baby is still a baby, yes they might be more awake, and yes they might be more feisty, but they are also shining with personality, have a sparkle in their eyes and big gummy smiles! What’s not to love?!

Ideally everyone imagines the sleepy, snuggly baby phase and the reason you’ve booked is to capture that snapshot in time, it’s often not just the images themselves but the experience. The newness of it all, and because it’s something we are excited to do as part of being a new parent.

Don’t fear, they don’t turn into giants overnight, they still have tiny hands and feet, they can also still curl up into little sleepy moments (I say moments because it doesn’t always happen and sometimes it’s literally minutes, but trust me it happens).

So what can I offer you and what can you expect…..

From around 6 weeks old I would consider them “older newborns” and although I would still consider it a newborn session and attempt everything I would in a “newborn” session at this stage it can be a little bit harder to get a sleepy baby, instead we start with awake shots in whatever outfit they’ve arrived in, so dress them in something you love them to wear upon arrival, this allows me time to bond with them a little and to get them used to their surroundings before stripping them down to vests and nappies. The room is nice and calm and warm so don’t worry if they hate being naked, everyone tells me this, and they all relax and settle in fine in the end.

IMG_4793.jpeg

Not all older babies will settle in straight away, they are used to routine, smells, faces, voices and their own surroundings by now. And I will most likely still be wearing a face mask, not ideal I know but these babies are used to seeing them in certain situations now already so they know no different and actually still smile (I promise!).

Once they are calm and showing me some smiles or interaction we can start to undress them, usually to a plain vest or right down to their nappy, the stages I aim for are clothes, vest, nappy…. once they are down to their nappy I can use little outfits and hats or blankets and wraps to help calm them or add some extra cuteness. Whatever you feel comfortable with and whatever they allow is good for me.

IMG_4787.jpeg

Every session is baby led, if they aren’t happy it’s cuddles and feeds until they settle. And then we try again. For this reason the sessions can last anywhere from 1-4 hours. It sounds a long time but it does pass extremely quickly and waiting for a baby to sleep or be calm enough is a huge part of the session.

I will be extra patient and I will always try and get some sleepy shots for you, but like all newborn sessions this is never a guarantee. I wish they had an on/off button but they don’t. So it’s all down to them on the day. If a baby is very unsettled after a period of time or trying we need to listen to that and be happy with whatever we have captured. Most of the time parents end up choosing the awake ones anyway and all that extra time and work ends up being left behind.

Can we still have family or sibling images? Yes, of course, I urge you to! This is a moment you want to capture, together as a family. So often we aren’t in the photographs and here is an opportunity to have your first family portrait. Grab it!

IMG_2352.jpeg

I am really excited to welcome you all back soon, some good tips for a successful photo shoot would be to start giving your baby some time in a vest or nappy at home, keep the room nice and warm and have them used to no clothing on from time to time. Practice taking lots of photos of them (I know most of you have 1000’s by now) but if you have a camera over an iPhone use that as not seeing my face behind it can be a little bit daunting for them when they are used to the phones and seeing your face, and even have some mask time around them to familiarise them with how I am going to look on the day. A baby scared of masks won’t end well.

IMG_4658.jpeg

Most of all just stay relaxed, don’t set too high an expectation and know that you will love the photos either way!

I hope you love the example images included in this guide and it helps you to imagine what to expect from the session. See you all soon!

A little lockdown love….

This is a strange world right now isn’t it?!

I felt I needed to write a post to let out my feelings but also connect with you all.

It’s such a wave of emotions and feelings. Some days I love the quiet and other days I miss the hustle and bustle.

What I love - I love having time…. I don’t even know the actual time most days, or even what day it is. I’ve barely said “in a minute” or “maybe later”, “I’m too busy” or “I’m trying to work.

I’m loving being able to cook all the recipes I have saved and never look at, being able to spend time as a family without guilt or feeling rushed.

I absolutely love the weather we are having and that we can enjoy it without the feeling of putting off something more important or constant emails flooding in to make me feel I should be working instead.

I just love the calm and the moments I would otherwise never have right now.

I bought a bike - I can hear you all laughing! I never exercise really, firstly is because of time and secondly is because of my rheumatoid arthritis, quite often I’m too sore and tired but right now not moving would be a worse situation for me so I’m trying my best to walk or cycle daily and keep my body moving so work isn’t as hard on my return. It’s also really good for my mind, I don’t feel as trapped and sometimes we need a release from the kids etc, let’s be honest here!

Below is some of my favourite moments so far….. you may notice food and drink rate highly haha!

Now for the bad…. what I miss, what I hate, what is hard and what is sad… this could be long!

Obviously first off, I miss my family, I miss my friends and I miss my normal. We are a sociable, outgoing, always planning and always hosting family. I’m missing all the moments with all our favourite people.

My dad will visit frequently, more than once a week for dinner, to hang out, help with the kids etc, he even has “his” chair, and it’s sat empty for weeks, other than the odd cat or some washing waiting to be put away, it’s sad. I can’t wait to see it filled once again and have a big hug.

I really miss my friends, we are always planning the next breakfast, lunch or pub gathering, our local better watch out once those doors reopen again!

The worst part this week has been the birth of a best friends baby, usually I would rush to the hospital, take photos, have cuddles and love all over them, all I could do was cry, on and off for hours. I feel like it’s a loss, loss of memories, moments and people I love. I can’t wait to sniff her, snuggle her and give my friend the biggest hug.

I also hate not working, it’s not just a job, it’s a dream. I worked for 10 years to build up to where I was and this year was set to be my biggest yet. I miss all the adorable newborns, the cute sitters, the hilarious cake smashes, the fun families and the crazy busy hype of weddings. All the memories and moments not captured and lost forever. I want to know when it will be ok to return, when it will be safe and when I can just be me again, the not knowing is the hardest on all of us right?

Then comes the financial stress of it all, when will the money run out? No more is coming in, I don’t rent premises so I don’t get a grant, I should get help in June, but that’s so far away and what help will it even be?

So many weddings have cancelled or postponed, dreams of theirs and of mine to capture their day, gone. It’s just the hardest time in so many ways but work is the worst.

I hate focusing on the negatives so I am going to leave it there and share some lovely moments from the start of the year at work and hope we can be back to creating these really soon!

We all just need to make the most of this time, cherish the moments, the memories and look to the future to when better times will come. I miss you all and really can’t wait to be back doing what I love…..

What are you loving? Hating? And what is helping you in lockdown?

Stay safe everyone!

Urban Caledonia Shoot

Amie first modelled the Urban Caledonia range last November in Love Fashion. Amie frequently models for Premiere Productions UK at fashion shows and wedding exhibitions throughout the year, and loves it!

She absolutely loved the hoodie that she wore in the show and not long after Julie from Urban Caledonia got in touch asking if Amie would like to be a brand ambassador for the range. We jumped at the chance as the clothes is so lovely and soft and of very high quality.

We have purchased hats for all the kids and Amie has tried out the hoodie and onesie. I highly recommend them, and it’s great to shop and support local companies here in Aberdeen.

If you like the look of the clothing then head to the website and grab yourself some, there is a 10% off code when you sign up to the website too.

You won’t be disappointed!

Bringing home a premature baby....

I stumbled across my blog from when we had the twins the other night (lots of tears), but this post helped so many people when I first shared it that I thought I would share it again. It can be such a daunting and lonely time, its nice to know someone, somewhere can relate.

Amie the day she was born - 25 weeks gestation - weighing 540g.

Amie the day she was born - 25 weeks gestation - weighing 540g.

Bringing home a premature baby.

The entire time in the Nicu a preemie parent becomes fixated on that magic date. The date they heard at their first scan. The date everyone says to aim for. The due date. Wether you bring your baby home that day or not. You count down to it like its Christmas Day times a thousand. We did not bring Amie home that day, and that day was hard for multiple reasons. But we aimed for it nevertheless.

Bringing home your baby should be the happiest day, a magical time. And don't get me wrong the day you bring home your baby you could have lost ten times over, it is magical. It's a miracle. But it's also the single most scariest day of your life.

With it comes so many fears, responsibilities, duties and more.

With it comes a suitcase of medicines and syringes and timetables of when to administer them.

With it comes lists and lists of appointments and check ups. For some operation dates. Physio, respiratory, eye clinic, weight checks, dietician, ear nose and throat, rsv clinic, well being checks on both of you. The list is endless, those are just snippets of the reality. Week after week, day after day.

With it comes total FEAR! In the Nicu we become fixated on numbers, monitors, tiny weight gains, a night without apnea. Most people (like us) leave without a monitor, in total blindness of how their baby is coping. Are the ok, are they breathing, why do they look greyish, bluish. Why are they struggling to breathe. With it comes sleep problems for us, how can we relax?

For us, with it came oxygen. A huge noisy beast of a machine with a huge wire that we trip over daily. Horrible, heavy tanks that we have to drag everywhere we go. Horrible stickers that we have to battle to peel from our baby's face if they haven't already hauled them off in a rage. By now they are probably blue and I'm in a panic trying to get them back in her nose.

With it comes loneliness, this is the single most lonely time of my life. During the Nicu journey, people rally round. They help with the kids, offer you lifts. Help get things you need and be there for you. All waiting to share the excitement of your miracle coming home. Once they do come home, for them, they can breathe again. Normality resumes. It's not their fault. They can't see and hear the thoughts, anxieties and fears in your head.
They imagine newborn dreaminess, those lovely days and nights of cuddles and serenity. Not the absolute raging beast that came home with me. No word of a lie, this baby is crazy!
For them everything is now ok, nothing they can do and there you are, home, alone and scared.

With it comes house arrest, germ patrol and those 4 walls. Prison will send anyone insane. But I also got this screaming torture device sent home with me. I can't leave it and I can't take it out. What if it gets sick. So I sit, I stare, I wonder, I cry, I lose my mind.

With it comes the fears of development, milestones, the future, neurological issues. The fear never ends.

As they get older it will get better they say. Let me tell you, this now frustrated torture device is even harder than the newborn crying one. She now has strength, rage, more determination, her cry is louder. She does not let up!

With it comes those handful of people you now KNOW are true friends. The one who offers to help you out in whatever way. The one who texts to check on you most days. The one who cries to you about what happened. The fellow preemie mum who knows exactly how you feel. The person who is there 24/7, always a message away. The person who picks you up when you are down. The person who knows you need a break. I am lucky. I actually have these people in my life!

I know everything I've written above sounds awful and brutal and negative. But it's the harsh reality. I've written it to 1) get things out of my head and off my chest. 2) for the other preemie mums thinking its just them going through this. You are not alone. It feels that way, but you are not. Find other preemie mums. Find a friend willing to share this journey with you.

Things aren't all bad. I also brought home this amazing, strong, fiesty miracle that I know is going to rule the world one day. She is the strongest person I know!

She's taught me gratitude and acceptance, she's taught me to count my blessings and love everyday, no matter how hard it is.

She's given me this unbreakable bond that we are so lucky to have. One day she will know and understand how special she is. She's a true friend for life and one I thank God for every single day!

All of this changes you, forever. There is no way anyone can go through this and come out the same person. Nothing prepares you for it and there is no time frame on when it will stop. The not knowing in itself is enough sometimes to drive you insane.

But would I have it any other way? No I would not. I was given this journey for whatever reason. And here I am. Still here. Stronger, more determined and so grateful. I am who I am because of it and that's forever. There is no point fighting it, because I can't change it.

I've met people along the way that I will cherish for the rest of my life. This journey opened so many doors for me and for that I am thankful.

From one preemie mum to another. I'm here for you.

Amie’s tiny hand holding her Daddy’s hand - 1 week old.

Claire & Frank Meldrum House Wedding

When Claire & Frank booked be for their big day (many years ago!) I was so excited. They are a lovely couple and Claire was so bubbly and full of enthusiasm for her wedding day. Any time I’ve seen her since she’s been exactly the same, a really outgoing and fun person. She warned me Frank and the boys didn’t really like having their photos taken and were a little more shy, which I can work with, but I think she told a few fibs!

The pre wedding shoot went amazing, with all four of them giving the camera lots of love. We headed to Footdee on a not very nice evening, but the rain held off and the images speak for themselves!

And the wedding day itself they couldn’t have been more chilled about it all, we were blessed with lovely weather and the entire day was so relaxed but fun.

Claire & Frank chose the lovely Meldrum House for their wedding, such a great venue and definitely one of my favourites. A good mix of modern and traditional, Claire definitely put her mark on it too. I’ve never seen the ballroom look so good!

I needed to add some of the pre wedding images here too so you can see just how amazing they did!

Glitter Mini Sessions

IMG_4549.jpeg

Glitter sessions are coming back to Dani Rose Photography!

We have Princess or Unicorns for the girls and Superhero’s for the boys! (Images of boys to follow).

The session is approx 30 minutes long and the girls can either bring a sparkly outfit or I have an array of dresses at the studio. Boys would take their favourite superhero outfit with them.

IMG_4543.jpeg

All children love glitter and mess so how better to capture their personalities and giggles than letting them go wild in the studio, not something they get to do at home.

All the children I’ve had here so far absolutely loved it.

IMG_4546.jpeg

Mini sessions are £99 for 5 digital images and upwards.

I also cater for children’s glitter parties but more to follow on that later….

New dates open, very limited availability. Link to book - http://danirosephotography.com/book-now-1/

More dates to follow.

Weddings 2018

IMG_8341.jpeg

I’m so pleased to say 2018 was another busy year for me, photographing weddings has quickly become one of my favourite things to do. When I’m not at a wedding on the weekend I’m busy editing one or thinking about the next one.

I’m extremely lucky to have another busy year ahead in 2019 and 2020 is already really full.

If you are considering Dani Rose Photography as your wedding photographer please don’t leave it too late to book. My diary is open now up to and including 2021 and dates are flying!

I cover wedding photography in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and abroad. I will consider any location and as a wedding photographer I love nothing more than a new wedding venue to capture!

I have wedding packages starting from half day coverage which is great for small weddings, up to full day packages covering the first couple of dances!

Booking is easy, let me know your date and venue, complete some paperwork and pay a deposit of £300 and the date is yours!

I look toward to hearing from you and would love nothing more but to share your special day with you.

The total is in….

IMG_4873.jpeg

Every year I attend some schools/groups and run mini charity sessions from my studio and the total for last year was £924.95 spread between 7 different groups. It all helps top up those accounts and every little helps!

The highest amount went to the charity extremely close to my heart Friends of Anchor and I couldn’t be more happy about that! Thanks to everyone that attended the studio and took part in raising that amount.

IMG_6882.jpeg

My dates will be open for schools and groups to book in, the commission back is 15% on all sales. Please contact me to check availability and book in.

My studio can also be booked for the sessions so your group doesn’t even need a hall!

I’m launching some more FOA slots this week for the coming weeks and months so keep an eye on the page for those opening.

And once again thank you all so much! It means a lot to myself and the charities to have your ongoing support.

Cake Smash and First Birthday Portraits

IMG_0864.jpeg

Your baby is fast approaching it’s first birthday, they grow so so fast!

Lots of people choose to celebrate this special occasion with a first birthday photo session or a cake smash session.

There are a couple of options available, first is just a standard photo session with a couple of outfits and capturing all the sweetness of your child at this stage. They will crawl, climb, drool, giggle, clap and maybe even walk! I have caputured first steps in the studio, an amazing memory to cherish forever.

IMG_4487.jpeg

Most people opt for a cake smash and splash session, we start as above with some portraits (one outfit) then quickly move to the cake smash part (can be a different outfit) where they hopefully smash and enjoy their birthday cake. Cakes can be brought along, I don’t recommend chocolate cake, or I can supply one on request.

IMG_4489.jpeg

I can also supply balloons, bunting, plain white nappies and even outfits for anyone that requires for their cake smash session.

After all the excitement and MESS of the cake smash we move to a splash in the tub for some more fun and the opportunity to grab some more images of your little one. They usually love this part, who doesn’t love the bath?! And capturing the baby rolls and chubby cheeks is all part of the cuteness!

IMG_4492.jpeg

Your images will be available to view around 2 weeks later and there is a mix of packages available starting at £199 for 10 images and upwards. Wall art is available also and the trio cube display is extremely popular for this session type or a keepsake album.

To book your session follow the link here or drop me a message - http://danirosephotography.com/book-now-1/

My studio is located in Dyce, Aberdeen and I would love to welcome you for your child’s special birthday sesssion, not restricted to first birthdays, I can capture any age you wish.

Newborn Mini Sessions

Newborn Photography, Newborn Mini Session, aberdeen newborn photography

New sessions in town!

First off, a big THANK YOU to all my mini models that came to the studio during April & May. We welcomed over 50 babies aged between birth and 5 months old for these new sessions which is just amazing.

It was great to meet every one of you and to capture all the personalities of your little babes.

I have lots of lovely images to share on my website now and a video of them all will hopefully be ready to share soon too.

Newborn Mini Sessions - what are they?

A quick 30-60 minute relaxed session, capturing your baby naturally as they are. A chance to catch all those little stretches and details.

A mini session is great for anyone that missed the posed newborn style window, or simply didn't want that style of images. Also great for the in-between stage of newborn and sitting up. Lots of smile and character can be captured at the 3-5 month stage.

No posed images are promised, and baby will be awake or asleep (however they are on the day).

These images do not include lots of props as we want to capture your baby as naturally as possible, arriving with a white vest is great and we will then strip down to a nappy. Most items used within the studio will be white/plain in colour so baby stands out.

NO parent or sibling images are captured during these sessions.

What do they cost?

The session time is £49 for up to one hour.

Packages start at £199, digital and print options available. Also albums and wall art.

Book yours now - http://danirosephotography.com/book-now-1/

Charity Mini Sessions

IMG_2897.jpeg

Don't miss a great opportunity to grab quick updated images and the chance to support an amazing cause!

For many years now I have worked with lots of playgroups, community groups and charities in Aberdeen. Offering mini sessions and donating the session fee and a percentage of sales back to the group or charity.

I'm still available to book for these but I am now offering the chance to book these sessions within the studio!

I’m opening some February and March dates for these since they were so popular last time!

All the booking fees and a % of the sales from these sessions will be donated to Friends of Anchor which is an amazing charity that supports many people locally and continues to research and bring new things to the unit that makes things just that little bit easier at a very tough time.

Please help us to raise as much as we can by liking, commenting, booking in and sharing with anyone that would be interested.

IMG_3620.jpeg

Great opportunity for updated images of the kids or your family.

PLEASE NOTE ANYONE CAN BOOK THESE SESSIONS, you don't need to be a part of a group or charity yourself. If you just want some updated images of the kids or a family session this is a great opportunity! There isn’t time to allow for styled sessions (newborn, cakes etc) it’s simply 10 minutes and aimed at children and or family.

10 minute sessions are only £5 (if you have more than 2 children or require family photographs please book 2 slots back to back).
Print packages like the mounted school packs start at £25 and digital images start at 5 £50.

Any group or charity can book out other dates (on location or within my studio) at any time. Booking the studio cuts out any hall hire/fees, sorting bookings or taking payments as I can do all of that easily for you through the online booking system. Just shout to book.

Christmas ones to follow :)

A little note from your photographer....

IMG_0878.jpeg

Getting your photographs taken and waiting to see them is very exciting, I love waiting to view ours and choose what ones we want and where they will go in our home. I get even more excited once I have decided and wait for the USB to arrive.

I know its hard to be patient......

Each image I provide  is softly edited for viewing, once you choose I final edit them all, on some galleries this is a quick process but on others I need to extend backdrops, head swap children, remove boogers, fix skin issues etc (newborns) and then there are weddings with around 500 images to hand edit individually.

I have around 20+ galleries and orders to process per week and I have at least 4 days in the studio, its just little old me here so i can't edit and shoot at the same time (I wish I could trust me).

I have hundreds of clients to please all at once, especially at this time of year!

I am the photographer, the editor, the admin, the receptionist, the packager, the person that posts them all and on top of all of this I am the cleaner, the cook, the mum of 3, the wife, the friend, the daughter, the sister and I need some time out and rest on top or I can't think straight!

I have to also have deadlines or I am constantly chasing people and lose track of where I am so please understand the need for the 5/7 day ordering window. A week really is a lot longer than if I switch to in person viewing which will require you to come back to me and choose on the spot (which a lot of photographers do).

I also process orders on a first come first served basis, this includes payment. If you know you need an image by a date it really helps to plan the session earlier or order as soon as possible to be added to my order list quicker.

At this time of year everyone wants them for gifts, I don't work to other companies offer deadlines so please don't chase me because the cards or canvas deal you want expires today. I have my own deadlines and I am trying to keep everyone happy and run things as fairly as I possibly can.

I know its frustrating to wait but I really am trying as hard as I can to get things to you all as soon as possible.

Thanks for being patient and I hope this helps people to understand the behind the scenes craziness I am dealing with all year round!

The importance of a photograph....

IMG_6304 6x4 block.jpg

We all have that one or many cherished photos across the home, on our phone, computer, in frames or stuck to the fridge.

A simple memory of our childs birth, first day of school, our pet, our partner, a grandparent or parent. Those memories we will never get back and some are quickly forgotten.

How often do you dig out the albums and sit together and look back through the memories? Not often nowadays. We share the odd pic on instagram or Facebook, or send some to each other here and there. But we print less and less, we hold a memory in our hands less and less and children don't remember as much as we used to when we were small as they haven't the physical proof to look at.

Photographs are SO important for so many reasons, mostly of loved ones no longer here, or special occasions like birthdays, graduations, weddings and family celebrations.

So get printing people! When you order a print from me you will automatically be given the digital copy to keep and a mobile app, so why not have the best of both worlds?

It is also so important to be IN the photos, but I will leave that for my next blog post. Children want to look back at pictures WITH us not just of them.

Weddings

As I am drawing near to the end of wedding season this year, I have been reflecting and looking back at all the wonderful weddings I got to be a part of. Thank you so much to everyone who booked me to be a part of your special day, it really was a huge honour and such a pleasure.

I have had a great summer attending weddings throughout Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Inverness and as far as Italy. Each and every one has been really enjoyable and such a treat! The weather played ball most of the time too, which was really lucky and on those days that weren't so great I was lucky enough to have some really brave brides up for battling the storm!

I feel really lucky that so many people love my work enough to book me for a day that is so important to them and to produce images they will treasure forever. As I watch the bride get ready full of nerves and excitement, then the groom wait anxiously for his princess to arrive, the exchanging of vows which is so emotional every time, the hilarious speeches that allow me to know a whole lot more about the bride, groom and their families, and that lovely first dance as man and wife... I just count my lucky stars that I get to be a part of it. I always go home with such a warm feeling and can't wait to edit the images and photograph the next one.

I am really sad that all this fun will soon come to an end until we kick off again in 2017, if you are looking for a photographer who is natural, fun and loves nothing more than to give her clients the best she can then look no further!

My 2017 dairy is very full and my 2018 diary is now open for bookings. Please don't delay in securing your date.

Sitter sessions.

Sitter sessions are one of my favourite types of session. Capturing returning newborns once they are sitting up, smiling and full of personality. I can provide a number of outfit choices which I prefer to normal clothing at this age as it covers them enough but allows their little arms and legs to be visible and all that cute dimples and rolls that one day will be gone and missed dearly.

It's the cute stage between newborn and toddler and the images provided at a styled session are much more classic and timeless.

These sessions are short and sweet as little ones don't tend to last long in front of the camera, 30 minutes is enough for 2-3 outfits depending on the child and their mood on the day.
